Edit a sent text message
When WhatsApp accepts the edit, the message text is updated.
Before you start
- Your text message sent less than 15 minutes ago through QR-based WhatsApp.
Step by step
Open the menu of a text message you sent and choose Edit if available.
Change the text in the bottom field and check the editing indicator.
Confirm with Send, or use X to exit without completing the edit.
Check the message in history after confirmation.

When WhatsApp accepts the edit, the message text is updated.
What you need to know
- The implemented flow is QR-based WhatsApp: only your own text and within 15 minutes of sending.
- In Hub, the menu may still show Edit after this period, but the server rejects the edit. Menu visibility does not extend the window.
- The reviewed edit endpoints do not route to the official API, Instagram or Facebook.
