Open Chat or Hub and select a number with history.
Read the connection notice before attempting to reply.
Read stored messages and restore the connection in the numbers area before sending again.
In Hub, hover over the real-time indicator to see whether all or only some connections are live.

What you need to know
- The real-time indicator describes screen updates; it does not replace WhatsApp connection status. Without real-time updates, the screen also polls periodically.
- Reading a conversation does not guarantee that old media can still be downloaded.
